Finance Assistant

We have an exciting opportunity to work for our charity by supporting our teams to provide a high quality service to those who experience Domestic Abuse (DA) by working as our Finance Assistant.  Your role will be to support the Finance Manager to oversee all financial matters within the charity.

The post holder will be responsible for:

  • Supporting the Finance Manager
  • Financial recording and reporting
  • Supporting payroll and expenses
  • Processing invoices and supplier payments
  • Overseeing Housing Benefit
  • Purchasing
  • Scanning, filing and logging account documents
  • Updating SAGE

You will be reporting directly to the Finance Manager and working in a team with a HR Assistant as part of the wider Business Team.  You will be working closely with all colleagues within MKACT supporting them in regards to Finance.

Location: Working across MKACT Offices with some hybrid working

As a Finance Officer we require you to be very organised, being able to work with competing demands and be able to work to deadlines. Ideally you will have an understanding of DA and its effects on victims and experience of working within the charity sector.  You will have accounting skills with previous experience of being in a similar role.  It is desirable that you will have used SAGE previously and that you hold an AAT or equivalent qualification.

HR Assistant

We have an exciting opportunity to work for our charity by supporting our teams to provide a high quality service to those who experience Domestic Abuse (DA) by working as our HR Assistant.  Your role will be to support the Senior Management Team to oversee HR administration within the charity.

The post holder will be responsible for:

  • Overseeing all recruitment processes including safer recruitment
  • Liaising with our external HR Company
  • Overseeing the staff well-being and benefits package and implementation
  • Updating and maintaining our employee policies and procedures
  • Overseeing the administration of our staff and volunteer training
  • Overseeing the administration of HR records including holiday and sickness

You will be reporting directly to the Finance Manager and working in a team with a Finance Assistant as part of the wider Business Team.  You will be working closely with all colleagues within MKACT supporting them in regards to HR.

Health Independent Domestic Violence Advocate (HIDVA)  – part-time or full-time options

We have an exciting opportunity to work for our organisation in partnership with Milton Keynes University Hospital (MKUH) providing a high quality service as a Health Independent Domestic Violence Advocate Team (HIDVA) to support those who experience Domestic Abuse (DA).  Providing targeted independent DA advocacy and support for people who are patients or staff of MKUH, your role will be to empower your clients, keeping the safety of them and their children central to your interventions. We are looking for an individual who is committed to working in a multi-agency setting, which is fast paced.  You will be joining our caring, strong and hardworking team.

37.5 Hours per week pro rata, from £26,247 pro rata for those that hold IDVA/DAPA qualification and for those that do not hold qualification from TBC

If you do not hold a qualification you will undertake your IDVA training on successful completion of 6 month probationary period and on qualification move to the higher rate.

Contract:Fixed term 1 year

Work Pattern:  Monday – Friday, 9am-5pm (with some flexibility).

Based at MKUH the majority of the time with one day a week at MK-Act Office in Central Milton Keynes.

As an HIDVA we require you to provide intensive, one-to-one work with victims of domestic violence prioritising those who are at medium to high risk of harm, working intensively with these cases for a limited time until the risk is reduced and safety needs have been met.

You will have a solid understanding of Domestic Violence and its effects on victims.  You will have experience of working in a multi-agency setting in particular a health setting and undertaking face-to-face work with clients.  It is desirable but not essential that you hold either IDVA/DAPA qualification.  The ability to speak a foreign language, together with a strong understanding of the needs of minoritised communities is also desirable but not essential
