Domestic Abuse Charity MK ACT wins Highly Commended Award at Pride of MK

Milton Keynes Women’s Aid (MK-ACT) is a local charity which works with over 100 families’ daily to help them move on from fear and abuse. This charity has recently won national recognition for the quality of the refuge service – and became one of only 40 services in the country to be described as a ‘Leading Light’. The team at MK ACT are making a huge difference to people in the community who are escaping from domestic violence.

On Friday 3rd October they attended the Pride of MK Awards. The evening aims to recognise the achievements of special people within our area; those who have gone out of their way to help others, those who have overcome hardship and those who support a positive attitude within our community.

On Friday MK ACT received a Highly Commended Award for the Care in the Community Category.

MK ACT’s Head of Services, Irene Chittenden said

‘We’d like to thank all the people who voted, the sponsors of the event and the Pride of MK Awards for the recognition for our team. MK Act staff are very passionate about helping families who are suffering from domestic abuse”.

MK ACT are hoping that other companies in Milton Keynes may want to help families to rebuild their lives after domestic violence. For details on making MK ACT your company’s charity of the year, please email Lolly@MK-ACT.org
